Baghdad Operations Command forces carried out security operations for search, inspection and armed reconnaissance in areas surrounding the capital.

The Command stated in a statement that the formations of the Infantry Divisions (Sixth and Seventeenth) and the units attached to them, with the support of intelligence agencies, began this morning, Wednesday, to implement security operations for regional search and inspection and armed reconnaissance, which included the areas of (Bazayez Al-Obaid, Akashat, Shakha/5, Al-Saeedat, and Al-Qadisiyah neighborhood). , Al-Shaar, Al-Gharibawiyyin, Al-Fadagha, Al-Raat, Al-Saadan, Faza Al-Shaniter, Al-Jahim, Al-Bu Issa, Al-Fallujiyin, Kartanalbu Abbas, Al-Janabiyyin, Albu Younis, Al-Abayji, Bustan Al-Tamimi, Al-Ghazilia, Al-Khazna) north and south of the capital, Baghdad, to enhance security and stability and impose the rule of law to maintain the security achievement achieved and preventing anyone who dares to tamper with the security and safety of the citizen.

The Agency stated in a statement that the Intelligence Agency’s detachments specialized in combating organized crime in Babylon Governorate continued to pursue outlaws and traffickers in Iraqi antiquities, and through intensifying efforts, our detachments learned about the intention of a group of people to sell valuable antiquities. Immediately, the fundamental judicial approvals were obtained and a team was formed. An intelligence operation carried out, and through a precise ambush, five defendants were arrested in their possession of 12 antiquities made of gold and one antique jar.

It added: ‘A formal seizure report was prepared for the suspected antiquity materials, and the accused were referred to the relevant authorities in preparation for their appearance before the court.
