Abu Dhabi: Twenty Eight high caliber UAE students this week received hands-on experience at the world-class semiconductor manufacturing facilities of GLOBALFOUNDRIES; all as part of the Al Nokhba internship program, sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) and the Advanced Technology Investment Company (ATIC).
During their time in the semiconductor fabrication facilities, interns learned the intricate details behind creating amongst world’s most advanced technologies, and even had opportunities to contribute in vital processes.
The hands-on stage represents the final two weeks of this year’s Al Nokhba internship program. After landing in Singapore and Dresden, participants spent the first week meeting the management team and gaining an appreciation for the culture of excellence that forms the basis of the modern industry. Interns then received three weeks of interactive classroom training, learning in detail the full process of wafer fabrication. Outside of GLOBALFOUNDRIES, students engaged actively with customers and suppliers, gaining a holistic understanding of how the technology industry truly functions – from A to Z.
Meaning the elite in Arabic, Al Nokhba builds on ATIC’s central aim of promoting Abu Dhabi’s strategic development of the advanced technology sector, in particular the semiconductor industry, by supporting the development of the human capital that will drive the future of the industry and provide UAE nationals with world-class learning opportunities.
