Dubai: Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) received a high-ranking delegation from the Sharjah General Secretariat of Awqaf, as part of efforts to implement the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed earlier this year between the two parties.
Tayeb Abdulrahman Al Rais, Secretary General, AMAF, and Khalid Rashid Al Thani, Deputy Secretary General, received the delegation led by Taleb Al Marri, Director General, Sharjah General Secretariat of Awqaf.
The meeting was attended by a number of senior executives of both institutions.
Exchanging experiences and expertise in the development and investment of awqaf funds and cooperation in marketing investment projects that serve the awqaf investment sector are some of the areas that the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) and the Sharjah General Secretariat of Awqaf jointly aim to achieve.
The MoU also mandates the two entities to collaborate towards the development of programmes that strengthens the role of awqaf in supporting and fulfilling the needs of diverse segments of the society.
The agreement has additionally laid the foundation for the two institutions to organise training courses, seminars and conferences, develop social research activities and raise awareness on the developmental role of waqf, as well as revive the Sunnah of waqf and the waqf culture between different community groups.
Tayeb Abdulrahman Al Rais said: “We aim to translate our goals through collaborating with other government institutions that share our objectives. The visit of the delegation from the Sharjah General Secretariat of Awqaf helped us work out a detailed roadmap for implementing the memorandum of understanding that we initiated earlier this year.”
