ANKARA, Turkish Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci said Friday Ankara and Baghdad were working together to establish a suitable environment for Turkish companies’ investment in Iraq.
Zeybekci hoped, in a meeting with visiting Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al-Jaafari, that suitable economic, trade and political environment would create better relations between the two countries.
He said boosting partnership, trade and economic relations to a new level was one of Turkey’s priorities.
Al-Jaafari said trade exchange between Iraq and Turkey amounted to USD 18 billion in 2014, but declined due to terrorist attacks in the country.
Al-Jaafari arrived in Ankara yesterday and had already met with Parliament Speaker Ismail Kahraman and his counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu.
