Arab coalition intercepts, destroys Houthi ballistic missile

JEDDAH, The Saudi-led Arab coalition supporting Yemen’s legitimate leadership said Friday it intercepted a ballistic missile that targeted Saudi Arabia’s southern city of Jazan.

Saudi Arabia’s forces intercepted and destroyed the ballistic missile fired by the Iranian-supported Houthi militias from Saada province, coalition spokesman Colonel Turki Al-Malki said in a statement.

He said the missile was deliberately aimed at harming populated areas.

Shrapnel of the ballistic missile fell on populated neighborhoods but no one was hurt, he added.

“This hostile act by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias affirm the Iranian regime’s continuous support of the armed Houthi group in blatant violation of UN resolutions 2216 and 2231, with the aim of threatening security of Saudi Arabia, and regional and internatinal security,” said Al-Malki.
