Arab League chief: Arab summit to be decided when Algerian Pres. visit Cairo

ALGIERS: Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Abul Gheit said on Saturday that the date for the next Arab summit in Algeria will be determined during the upcoming visit of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Egypt.

Abul Gheit said after his meeting with the Algerian President that he agreed with the Algerian leader on setting the date for the upcoming Arab League summit during his upcoming visit to Egypt, pointing to Algeria’s desire to embrace the summit before next June 30 if global conditions improve.

Abul Gheit added that he extended an invitation to the Algerian president to visit the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo during his visit to Egypt, where the meeting will be an opportunity to determine the date of the upcoming Arab summit.

He pointed out that during the meeting with the Algerian leader, many regional issues were discussed, especially the situations in Libya and Syria.

Earlier, Abul Gheit, in a joint press conference with Algerian Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum, said that there is a “possibility of delaying the upcoming Arab summit in Algeria, scheduled at the end of next March, noting that it might be delayed for a month or two.” (Pickup previous) mr.mb
