CAIRO, The Cairo-based Arab League affirmed on Wednesday its backing to all efforts by all member states in common fields, mainly military that constitute the security valve of the Arab nation.
The League made the statement after a meeting held between Secretary General Ahmad Aboul-Gheit and chiefs of the training bodies of the Arab armed forces on the sidelines of the 24th symposium on establishing an Arab armed forces’ military training center.
The statement noted that Aboul-Gheit stressed the necessity for communication and coordination amongst the Arab armed forces, pointing to the key role of such symposiums.
He recalled the “honorable” stances of the Arab armies during the 1973 Arab-Israeli War, it said.
These stances have reflected the Arab unity and highlighted the spirit of cooperation, he pointed out.
Aboul-Gheit said that the Arab cooperation and unity had a great impact on achieving the victory. He urged the participants to expand their knowledge and be aware of the latest technologies in the military field so as to raise capabilities of the Arab armies.
