CAIRO, Egypt – The Arab League expressed gratitude to Kuwait, for its generous contributions in supporting the humanitarian situations in Syria, and for regularly following outcomes of three donors’ conferences, it hosted, for the Syrian people.
The League made its remarks, in conclusion of the extraordinary session of its Council, on the level of permanent delegates, held at the request of Kuwait, to discuss the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Syrian city of Aleppo.
Meanwhile, the Council expressed strong condemnation and disappointment of the ongoing heinous crimes, committed by the Syrian’s government against innocent civilians, as well as, the government’s systematic demolition of all sources of life in that country, particularly in populated areas and cities.
It also reiterated its firm stand towards supporting a political solution, through a joint political process in Syria, that meets the aspiration of the Syrian people, in accordance with the final statement of the Geneva I Communique.
The Council also expressed deep concern towards the deterioration of the humanitarian situations in Aleppo and other Syrian cities, calling on the international community and humanitarian organisations, to intervene for immediate ceasefire and delivery of urgent humanitarian aid in Syria.
It also expressed strong condemnation of the barbaric massacres, committed by the so-called Daesh and Al-Nusra Front, against unarmed and innocent civilians and international workers, in various Syrian cities and towns.
Moreover, it called donor countries to quickly honour their commitments, at the previous donors’ conferences, hosted by Kuwait, in addition to the London conference, in order to support the current humanitarian situation in Syria, and provide the necessary humanitarian support to Syria’s neighbouring countries, hosting the Syrian refugees.
