Arab League urges int’l action against Israel

Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmad Abul-Gheit said on Thursday there should be an “effective” international move to halt growing Israeli violations of Palestinian rights.

Abul-Gheit made the remark while meeting UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov here today, calling for bringing those involved in violations to accountability, the league said in a press statement.

During the meeting, they discussed ways of providing the required support to the Palestinian people, stressing that Israel should bear full responsibility for the worsening living and humanitarian conditions of Palestinian people, especially in the Gaza Strip, it said.

They agreed to step up international efforts in order to improve the humanitarian conditions of Gazans, according to the statement.

The chief of the Arab League appreciated the UN coordinator’s efforts in this regard, in collaboration with relevant UN agencies.
