Bloomberg suspends presidential campaign, endorses Biden

WASHINGTON Former mayor of New York Mike Bloomberg has suspended his presidential campaign Wednesday and endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden.

In a statement, Bloomberg said, “I’ve always believed that defeating Donald Trump starts with uniting behind the candidate with the best shot to do it.” “After yesterday’s vote, it is clear that candidate is my friend and a great American, Joe Biden,” he added.

After spending over USD 500 million of his own money on campaign, Bloomberg did not win any of the 14 states on Super Tuesday, only winning American Samoa.

Meanwhile, Senator Elizabeth Warren is back in Boston after a disappointing night for her on Super Tuesday, where she is “talking to her team to assess the path forward,” a campaign aide told The Hill. The biggest surprise of Super Tuesday was Biden’s win in Texas, after winning in eight other states. It was a strong comeback for the former Vice President after his major victory in the South Carolina primary on Saturday.
