China confirms 143 new coronavirus cases, 30 deaths

KUWAIT: Chinese health authorities on Friday announced 143 new confirmed coronavirus (COVID 19) infection cases and 30 more deaths on the Chinese mainland.

The Chinese National Health Committee said in its daily report that in the past 24 hours 80,710 confirmed cases and 3,045 deaths have been recorded, among these cases,126 confirmed cases and 29 deaths were in Hubei province and one death case in Hainan province.

Meanwhile, 102 new suspected cases were reported, while the number of severe cases decreased to 5,737, whereas 53,726 people were discharged from hospital after recovery, according to the commission.

The commission is following up the health of 23,784 patients still being treated, 29,896 people who had physical contact with patients, among them 5,457 persons relieved of medical supervision.

By the end of Thursday, 104 confirmed cases including two deaths had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 10 confirmed cases in the Macao SAR, and 44 in Taiwan, including one death, it noted.

The commission added that 16 new cases of Coronavirus were recorded for travelers coming to China, 11 of which are in Gansu Province, four cases in Beijing and one in Shanghai.
