This came in a statement distributed by UNRWA, after signing an agreement with the UAE Red Crescent Authority for building eight model schools in Gaza Strip at a total cost of AED 58 million.
Grandi stressed that the agreement highlights UAE Red Crescent Authority firm support in its ongoing commitment to help UNRWA and improving the lives of Palestinian refugees in Gaza.
“I would like to express my profound gratitude to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Red Crescent Authority and the Emirati people on this important contribution,” he added.
The agreement was signed by the Secretary General of the UAE Red Crescent Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi and UNRWA Deputy Commissioner Peter Ford.
The schools will be built in areas that desperately need educational services.
