BRUSSELS, The European Union (EU) Sunday condemned the three separate blasts earlier today at Christian churches in Surabaya, Indonesia, in which 13 people were reported killed.
“Attacks on communities at prayer run counter to Indonesia’s traditional culture of religious diversity and inter-religious harmony. Such a culture is a source of inspiration for many around the world, especially in times, such as now, of tension,” said Maja Kocijancic, spokesperson for EU High Representative Federica Mogherini in a statement.
The EU will continue to cooperate closely with Indonesia in its efforts to counter terrorism and radicalisation. “We stand in solidarity with the Indonesian authorities and people at this time,” Kocijancic added.
