EU health ministers hold extraordinary meeting to discuss Coronavirus

BRUSSELS European Union Health Ministers are holding an emergency meeting in Brussels Thursday to adopt a common European position to tackle with coronavirus.

“We have to act as a European Union, and secondly measures taken will be more effective if taken in a coordinated manner,” Janez Lenarcic, EU Commissioner for Health and Crisis Management, told reporters ahead of the meeting.

“I hope that the EU member states will continue to show solidarity with China and assist it in its own efforts to contain the outbreak and look into the possibility of helping third countries in particular those with less robust health system,” he said.

Lenarcic added that the number of coronavirus cases in Europe is still low and the risks for infection are also limited.
