MOSCOW, Four Russian servicemen were killed by militants’ fire in Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry said Sunday.
Two Russian military advisers, who controlled fire of the Syrian battery, died at the scene, Interfax news agency quoted sources at the ministry as saying.
Five other Russian military were wounded and immediately taken to a Russian military hospital, but two of them died later.
The fighting occurred in Deir ez-Zor Governorate in the dark time when militants attacked an artillery battery of the Syrian government forces.
According to the ministry, 43 militants were killed in the fighting that lasted for almost an hour.
