France is actively participating in a Kuwait-hosted conference on the reconstruction of Iraq, its foreign minister Jean-Yves Le Drian told Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi Monday.
France will stand by Iraq as the country picks itself up after years of war, a statement by the French government cited Le Drian as saying.
The French minister went on to underline the significance of the “Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq,” fresh off the country’s military victory over the so-called Islamic State (IS).
The Kuwait-hosted talks opened earlier on Monday, with broad participation from the international community.
