Gulf Arab states eye closer cooperation amid talks

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, including Kuwait, assembled for talks on Thursday aimed at examining how far progress has come on joint work within the regional bloc.

The UAE-led talks, in which Kuwait’s Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah presided over his side’s delegation, opened on a sour note as condolences were extended to Kuwait and Bahrain over the passing of their respective leaders.

The GCC ministerial council has made notable achievements in spite of the coronavirus pandemic, said the bloc’s chief Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf, who commended the efforts of member states towards closer integration.
