Doha, July 25 (QNA) – HE the Minister of Awqaf (Endowment) and Islamic Affairs Dr. Ghaith bin Mubarak al-Kuwari opened last night Ramadan Tent next to the Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahab Mosque.
The tent will host a number of the Ministry’s different activities to mark the holy month of Ramadan.
HE the Minister of Awqaf toured the tent which gathers pavilions for the different departments of the Ministry such as the Zakat Fund, the General Administration of Awqaf, the Islamic Affairs Administration, Qatar Islamic Cultural Center and others.
The pavilions will offer visitors an overview and introduction to the departments achievements and services. They will also display and distribute Ramadan brochures.
HE the Minister Awqaf also honored nine of veteran Qatari imams, preachers and muezzins who have given valuable service to their community and their country.
Commenting on the occasion, HE Dr. Ghaith al-Kuwari highlighted the significance of honoring veteran Qatari imams and muezzins who served the houses of Allah in the past and are still alive.
HE the Minister underlined that the Ministry of Awqaf is exerting huge efforts to attract Qatari imams and preachers and encourage Qatari young people to engage in this field.
HE the Minister noted that the courtyard of the Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahab Mosque had been selected to hold the tent because of the large turnout by worshipers expected to pray in the mosque during the holy month, in addition to its large area.
For his part, Head of Mosques Department Mohammad Hamad al-Kuwari hailed the great attention accorded by HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to the mosques, imams and preachers and his continuous guidance of the Ministry of Awqaf.
Al-Kuwari also praised HH the Hair Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s encouragement and support to Qatari imams and preachers.
He underlined the honoring the veteran Qatari imams, preachers and muezzins by HE the Minister of Awqaf came to embody the directives of the country’s wise leadership.
He noted that the number of Qatari imams registered with the ministry now stands at 220 imam, adding that the Mosques Department will continue its encouragement to Qatari people to engage in this honorable field.
The Qatari imams, preachers and muezzins who were honored by HE the Minister of Awqaf included Jaber Amer al-Dehabeeb, Ahmad Sahms-Addin al-Shebani, Abdul-Rahman Ali al-Muhannadi, Fahd Saqr Rashid al-Mraikhi, Ahmad Mahmoud Abdul-Rahim al-Mullah, Mohammad Salem Khazena al-Merri, Mohammad Nasser al-Jefali al-Nuaimi, Abdullah Mohammad al-Kuwari and Ali Hazza’a al-Nuaimi.
