BAGHDAD, Iraq, Oct 30 (NNN-NINA) – IraqiBAGHDAD, – Iraqi Defence ministry, denied Saturday, press reports that military troops were deployed in the south of the country, near the borders with Kuwait.
“The Iraqi security forces have not carried out any movement in the south, and the reports about military formations near the Iraqi-Kuwaiti borders are not true,” a ministry source, who did not want to be named, confirmed.
Social media report suggested earlier today that, unusual military formations were taking place, on the Iraqi side of the borders.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior also snubbed the reports.
There are no Iraqi military moves, mobilisation or deployment on the border, Assistant Undersecretary for land borders security, Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al-Muhanna, was quoted by the ministry’s security information department, as saying.
He stressed that, Kuwaiti border security personnel are properly doing their duties, and well aware of their due responsibilities.
