The Iraqi Parliament on Wednesday voted on a bill amending the electoral law according to which the electoral commission would be compelled to recount votes of recent elections manually.
A source at the media bureau of the parliament told KUNA that the lawmakers voted on amending the electoral law, cancelling article 38 which stipulates that the digital counting of the votes be replaced with manual counting.
The amendment also stipulated that a judicial commission be formed to oversee the recount, in addition to establishing a panel to probe irregularities during the recent polling.
The legislators also voted in favor of government recommendations, cancelling results of the elections abroad and by displaced due to intentional and grave breaches.
The government decided in May to form a committee to investigate violations in the elections.
