Kurdish casualties reach 277 in operation in north Syria — Turkey

ISTANBUL, The Turkish Ministry of Defense added in the statement that among the casualties were 49 fighters from the Workers Party of Kurdistan (the PKK), the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the Syrian Democratic Forces’ factions.

The official statement said a Turkish soldier died and three others were wounded in clashes during the “Peace Spring” operation, launched east of the Euphrates river in norther Syria, on Wednesday.

The Turkish Army is carrying out the operation with participation of pro-Turkish Syrians; aimed at combing northern Syria of Kurdish “terrorist groups” and creating a safe zone for Syrian refugees.
