Amman, Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development on Tuesday attended talks in Amman, including 45 nations and funding organisations, aimed at making donations to boost the economy and jobs in Jordan.
The fund was represented at the talks chaired by Jordan’s ministers of planning and labour, by its Arab regional director Abdallah Al-Sabeeh, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
The hosts briefed the attendance on the country’s five-year reform plans aimed to increase job opportunities, thus limiting unemployment, build career potentials and revive the economy. In turn, the attending sides presented their backing and funding initiatives.
The Kuwait Fund is committed to a five-year $ 500 million soft loan package for Jordan, which begins in the 2019-20 fiscal year.
The initiative, agreed at talks alongside Saudi Arabia and the UAE, whom each provided equal shares, aims to fund infrastructure projects in Jordan’s healthcare, education and transport sectors.
