KUWAIT DISTRIBUTES 2,250 FOOD PARCELS TO DISPLACED IRAQIS IN IRBIL

IRBIL, May 15(NNN-KUNA) — Kuwait on Sunday handed out 2,250 food baskets to displaced people in the northern Iraqi city of Irbil, part of an aid campaign launched by the Kuwaiti Society for Relief (KSR).

Speaking to KUNA, Kuwait’s Consul General in Irbil Dr. Omar Al-Kanderi said that the all-encompassing aid has reached displaced Iraqis residing in cities, who outnumber those inhabiting camps.

Moreover, he noted that the campaign, dubbed, “Kuwait is By Your Side”, was launched to help out the Iraqi people, many of whom are mired in misery.

Meanwhile, Abbas Al-Jabbouri, the head of an organization of volunteers for relief and development, told KUNA that 2,250 food baskets were given to displaced Iraqi families that have been cut off from the aid that is usually earmarked for people living in camps.

He also thanked Kuwait for the copious amounts of aid the country has delivered to the autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan.
