– The Security Cooperation Group meeting, which was held online Monday within the fourth round of the joint strategic dialogue between Kuwait and the United States, stressed the importance of bilateral cooperation in security and combating terrorism.
In a statement to KUNA, Assistant Foreign Minister for Americas Affairs Ambassador Hamad Al-Mashaan said that the meeting discussed aspects of joint cooperation between the two countries in all security fields.
The meeting also touched on the files of combating terrorism and its financing, as well as reviewing common security challenges and ways to address them, especially with regard to cyber and digital security, he added.
For her part, US ambassador to Kuwait Elena Romanowski affirmed her country’s readiness to provide Kuwait with expertise and assistance regarding security aspects.
The ambassador hailed the progress made during the discussions, noting the joint concern to preserve the security of the two countries and enhance cooperation in combating terrorism, and cybersecurity.
Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Cooperation Ambassador Nasser Al-Subaih headed the Kuwaiti side, with the participation of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Criminal Security, Major General Mohammad Al-Sharhan, and a number of representatives of concerned government agencies.
The US side was represented by State Department counterterrorism coordinator Nathan Siles, Acting Assistant Secretary at the Treasury Department Paul Ahearn and other officials.
