Kuwaiti-Chinese digital economy talks kick off

Kuwaiti-Chinese digital economy talks kicked off Tuesday, discussing the Belt and Road project, with broad participation of the two countries.
The General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development, the Kuwait Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the West Asia and North Africa Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chinese Public Diplomacy Association and the Beijing Embassy in the country participated in the talks.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Secretariat General for Planning and Development Khaled Mahdi said that the project based on international standards for globalization through economic development and artificial intelligence.
There is a link between the Digital Belt and Road Initiative, the so-called green economy and sustainable development, and Kuwait’s development plan (2020-2025), Mahdi added.
Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice President, Abdulwahhab Al-Wazzan, said that Kuwait responded to the Chinese initiative as the first Gulf country because of its belief that reviving the historic Silk Road would change the pattern and shape of international relations by devoting great economic, political and cultural benefits.
Moreover, he affirmed that the initiative includes many sectors that are consistent with Kuwait Vision 2035, such as upgrading the infrastructure in the fields of transport, energy, information technology and utility connection projects, as well as consistent with Kuwaiti development priorities in terms of stimulating economic growth, industrialization, increasing intra-trade and economic integration.
