She indicated that UAE is considered one of the leading countries that is promoting for a contagious disease-free world, in accordance with the initiatives that UAE’s leadership is announcing, and expressing its obligation towards the international causes.
This affirmation came during her reception for Mr. Simon Bland, head of Global Fund to Fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, and his escorting delegation in her office today at the Ministry of International Cooperation and Development (MICAD) in Abu Dhabi.
During the meeting that addressed ways of cooperation between UAE and the Fund, the Minister of International Cooperation and Development citied the vital role that the Fund is playing in fighting AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis, and its efforts in supporting the countries’ capacities that have population segments suffering from these diseases. Also, she asserted UAE’s adherence in supporting the global efforts concerned with the health development sector, in addition to the other sectors relevant to the Humanitarian causes and development.
In return, head of Global Fund to Fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, commended the vision of UAE’s leadership regarding boosting the global humanitarian action in all forums and events, especially in Health Sector, saying that the growing advancement of UAE’s status on the map of the international humanitarian action, despite its recent formation, gives a motive to other countries worldwide to increase their comtributions.
He also briefed Sheikha Lubna about the role of the Fund, number of countries it is supporting, and the future plans for the next period.
