Medical negligence kills Palestinian in Israeli jail – Palestinian commission

GAZA, A Palestinian man has passed away at an Israeli prison due to medical negligence, Palestinian prisoners’ affairs commission said on Wednesday.

Fares Mohammad Ahmad Al-Baroud, 51, from Al-Shati Camp, west of the Gaza Strip, has died at an Israeli prison shortly after he had been admitted to an Israeli hospital, the commission added in a press statement.

Al-Baroud’s case was “deliberately” neglected by Israeli authorities over the five past years, it said.

He was suffering from internal bleeding, therefore he was taken to the hospital and a part of his liver was amputated, it made clear.

The deceased was arrested in March 1991, and had been sentenced to life imprisonment on charges of killing an Israeli settler.
