The Croatian midfielder Luka Modric was awarded on Sunday the Golden Boot for the 21st FIFA World Cup tournament held in Russia 2018.
Modric received the award during the closing ceremony at the Luzhniki Stadium in Russia, after the Final match of the tournament took place, which saw France as the champions against Croatia after a 4-2 score to put the second star on France’s national team jersey.
The Belgium midfielder, Eden Hazard was awarded the Silver Boot, which puts him as the second-best player in the tournament, and trailing him as the third best was French attacker Antoine Griezmenn, awarded the Bronze Boot.
As the best young player in the competition, Kylian Mbappe was rewarded with the FIFA Young Player Award, after an excellent performance and becoming World Cup champion.
While the Golden Boot was awarded to Harry Kane after scoring six goals for England.
The Golden Glove award was presented to Belgium’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, and the Spanish team received the FIFA Fair play Trophy.
Luzhniki Stadium, in Moscow, witnessed the awarding ceremony for the Finalist teams where the Gold and silver medals were presented to the French and Croatian players along with their technical, administrative, and medical staff.
The referee team who ran the match lead by the Argentinian Nestor Pitana were presented with honorary medals for their efforts.
Present at the awarding ceremony was the Russian President Vladimir Putin and his counterparts France President Emmanual Macron and Croatian Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, alongside the FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
