Mohammed Bin Rashid meets French Defence Minister

Dubai: UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received on Sunday at his Zabeel Palace in Dubai, French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and the delegation accompanying him.

At the meeting, that was attended by Deputy Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, they reviewed friendly relations between the UAE and France. Describing these relations as historical, Sheikh Mohammed said that mutual visits by officials in both countries will contribute to their strengthening and will serve the interests of their peoples.

Sheikh Mohammed also hailed the role of French companies and investors in the UAE in bolstering the bonds of friendship and human relationships, which are reflected positively on the economic and trade cooperation between UAE and France.

Le Drian stressed the keenness of France, its government and people to strengthen relations with the UAE in various avenues. He noted that these ties have reached excellent levels and steadily grew during the past years, especially in the areas of military cooperation, exchange of experiences and economic and investment partnerships.

The French minister praised the revival and progress witnessed by the UAE at all levels, and commended its infrastructure, which he said is comparable with the infrastructures of the developed countries in the world.

They also held talks on a number of topics and political issues of common concern, especially the current political developments in the region.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed received an official invitation from French President Francois Hollande to visit France. He accepted the invitation with gratitude and the date of visit will be set later.

President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman of Emirates Airline HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Minister of State Reem Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Director General of Dubai Ruler’s Court Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Commander General of Dubai Police Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, a number of other officials and French ambassador to UAE Alain Azouaou attended the meeting.
