Morocco severs ties with Iran over W. Sahara

KUWAIT, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita said his country is severing the diplomatic relations with Iran for Tehran’s support for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Saguia El-Hamra (better known as the Polisario Front). In a press conference in Rabat Tuesday, the minister said Morocco would shut down the Iranian embassy in Rabat and expel the Iranian ambassador.

Bourita made clear that Morocco’s decision has to do exclusively with the bilateral relations and is not related to the developments in the Middle East.
