OIC permanent representatives discuss scores of key issues in Jeddah

A three-day preparatory meeting for the next session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) discussed some 82 issues in Jaddah, Saudi Arabia.

The permanent representatives of the OIC member states discussed economic, political, educational, cultural, legal, cultural and organizational topics, as well as conditions of Muslim minorities, dialogue among civilizations and a variety of humanitarian activities.

Bangladesh will host the 45th OIC’s CFM in May.

The Jeddah meeting that wrapped up discussions Tuesday covered 19 political issues, among them Libya, Syria, Mali, and Jammu and Kashmir, besides supporting Somalia’s return to the international community.

The US decision recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital featured high on the discussions.

Economic topics addressed agriculture, trade, tourism, and fighting poverty, in addition to science and technology (higher education, health, environment, water resources, and university activities in the member states).
