(with MIL-MIDEAST-VIOLENCE) RAMALLAH, The Palestinian government has held Israel responsible for the aggression committed against Palestinians, particularly the recent deaths and injuries of dozens in Gaza by Israeli gunfire.
In a statement, spokesman Yusuf Al-Mamoud called for an urgent international intervention to end the bloodshed.
The international community institutions must assume their responsibilities toward “our unarmed people who are marking the immortal Land Day, a major national occasion, through peaceful marches and popular festivities,” he said.
Israeli occupying forces have faced these demonstrations with a “horrendous crackdown and bloodshed.” Some 12 Palestinians have been reportedly killed and more than 1,100 wounded as a result of Israeli shooting amid demonstrations close to the borders of Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
Clashes erupted Friday morning across different parts along Gaza’s borders with Israel, during protests dubbed the “Great March of Return.” (end) nq.msa
