Ramallah, Palestine’s President Mahmoud Abbas swore in a new government headed by Mohammad Shtayyeh, a senior official of Fatah Movement, at the presidency HQ in Ramallah City on Saturday .
Five ministers of the former government and five from the Gaza Strip are included in the new 21-member cabinet, beside the Prime Minister. Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki and Finance Minister Shukri Bishara maintained their posts.
Ministers of Interior and Awqaf have not been appointed yet and the Premier will act as caretaker of both portfolios.
Fatah Movement Central Committee member Shtayyeh was assigned on March 10 to form a government from the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) factions and independent personalities.
