LONDON, UK Prime Minister Theresa May told Conservative MPs on Wednesday she would not lead the party in the next elections, slated for 2022.
May, who faces a vote of confidence in her leadership, due later tonight, appealed for her party to continue supporting her to complete the Brexit march.
The prime minister ruled out plans for early general elections.
She is likely to win the vote of confidence as the majority of Tories stated their support of her leadership.
The secret vote was reportedly called for by 48 out of the 317 Conservative MPs.
