Pompeo: Coronavirus serious challenge

WASHINGTON US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said coronavirus is a “serious challenge” and that the “whole world needs to take on this challenge together.” In an interview on Fox network, aired late on Tuesday, Pompeo said coronavirus is “a global epidemic that we need to work our way through with science and facts.” He affirmed that President Donald Trump “has taken action to try and protect the American people.” Pompeo added “we at the State Department have brought Americans home. We’ve done so safely.” He shed light on the USD 100 million in assistance the US provided “not only to China but to other countries that are impacted by the coronavirus.” This comes as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed earlier Tuesday another case of the coronavirus in the US, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 13.

There are 42,000 confirmed cases worldwide with the death toll from the coronavirus outbreak reaching over 1,000.
