US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met Tuesday with Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al Thani and thanked him for Qatar’s strategic partnership with the US, the State Department revealed.
During their discussion Pompeo “commended the Foreign Minister for Qatar’s continued efforts on counterterrorism and countering terrorism financing,” the statement said.
He also “emphasized the President’s desire to see the Gulf dispute eased and eventually resolved, as it only benefits Iran,” it added.
The leaders also discussed a range of regional and bilateral topics.
