Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick to prevent Portugal what could had been a bitter defeat by Spain in their FIFA World Cup clash on Friday.
The Portugal captain’s free kick in the 88th minute managed to go over the wall and settled in net of David De Gea, who watched the ball passing his left side, levelling score 3-3 in a match held in Russia’s Black Sea City of Sochi.
It all began with Ronaldo who opened the score in a penalty kick four minutes into the match.
Spain’s forward Diego Costa equalized the score when he maneuvered through the Portuguese defenders, sending the to the right corner of Portugal’s goalkeeper.
Ronaldo, on top of the box, put Portugal ahead with another goal in 44th minute in a ball that deflected through De Gea’s hands. Portugal leads 2-1.
Costa, again, was in the right spot and diverted a header who level the score sheet again in the 55 minut, and Nacho scored a stunner from outside the box in the 58th minute to take Spain by one goal ahead.
The Real Madrid international, Ronaldo capitalized a free kick to finish the game 3-3.
