PARIS, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman said Riyadh “could be a party in a military action in Syria if necessary.” Prince Mohammad told a joint news conference with French President Emmanuel Macron “if our coalition with our partners requires so, we will be ready.” Macron said France would announce in the coming days its action vis-a-vis a suspected chemical attack in Syria.
“If we decide to launch military strikes then they will target chemica capabilities of the regime without harming the Russian and Iranian allies,” he said.
However, he added, France “does not want any escalation.” Meanwhile, Macron said he accepted Prince Mohammad’s invitation to visit Saudi Arabia.
He said France and Saudi Arabia signed 38 cooperation agreements between the public and private sectors, citing a framework deal on higher education and French language.
Prince Mohammad underlined importance of the political, economic and cultural partnership France.
He said there joint economic projects in sectors of oil, petrochemicals, gas, energy, transport and trade.
