Muharraq-based Shaikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research will host Moroccan poet Ikram Abdi tomorrow, Monday, for a recital themed “In Broad Night.
Abdi is recipient of he first poetry award, which was conferred on her by the Women Creativity Society in 2000 in the city of Fez. Asilah Forum Foundation also honoured Ikram Abdi and presented her with the Baland Al-Haidari Award.
She published a collection of analytical articles in Moroccan and Arab platforms, including: “Al-Shamal” newspaper, “Al-Sharq al-Awsat” newspaper, “Socialist Union” newspaper, “Al-Alam”, “Moroccan Culture” magazine, the London-based “Al-Thaqafiya” magazine, and Kuwaiti “Al-Arabi” magazine
Abdi is one of the writers of the opinion page in the international newspaper, Asharq Al-Awsat, and has many participations in festivals, meetings and poetry evenings in Morocco and some Arab countries. Among her publications are: “I will not trade seagulls”, “Cloud clippings” and “Articles in mourning”.
