BRUSSELS, The NATO Summit in Brussels in July will address military alliance’s efforts to strengthen its deterrence and defense, and enhance its role in the fight against terrorism, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Monday.
Stoltenberg told a meeting of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Warsaw, Poland, today that the alliance leaders will also discuss NATO-EU cooperation, NATO’s modernization and adaptation, as well as fairer burden-sharing.
“We had a landmark Summit in Warsaw in 2016, we are now preparing for the NATO Summit in Brussels in July this year and during our lunch meeting we addressed several issues which will dominate that Summit in July,” said the NATO chief.
“We are 29 democracies with sometimes different opinions. That is the nature of democracy. But NATO stands united around our core task: we protect and defend each other,” he stressed.
Stoltenberg thanked the NATO parliamentarians for their important work and oversight, according to a NATO press release.
