RIYADH, The Syrian crisis will be heavily focused on during the 29th Arab Summit’s Foreign Ministers meeting, said an Arab League official Thursday.
Speaking to the press on the sideline of the meeting, Arab League spokesman Mahmoud Afifi said that ministers as well as international officials attending the Foreign Ministers session will pay special attention to the current situations in Syria, Yemen, and Libya.
The Palestinian cause will also have its share in the Arab Foreign Ministers’ discussions, said Afifi who indicated that the Iranian interference in Arab affairs as well as the Houthi militia’s missile attacks against Saudi Arabia would be within the agenda.
Afifi said that the holding of the summit in Saudi Arabia will bringing all these major issues to the attention of Arab League members in hopes for progress and stability in the region.
The 29th Arab summit, scheduled on April 15, will witness the participation of Arab leaders in addition to heads of international organizations such UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, African Union’s commission chair Moussa Faki, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and others.
