Troika calls on Sudan’ Transitional Military Council to allow peaceful protests

LONDON, The Troika Group (UK, US and Norway) on Saturday called on the Sudanese Transitional Military Council to avoid violence and to allow peaceful protests.

In a statement published by Britain Foreign Ministry, Troika Group stressed its support for the demands of the Sudanese people for a peaceful transition of authority, expressing support for the mediation led by the African Union and Ethiopia.

The statement called on the Sudanese Transitional Military Council and the Forces for Freedom and Change to participate constructively with the proposal of the African Union and Ethiopia to achieve a peaceful and democratic transition through the formation of a transitional government under civilian leadership.

It pointed out that the achievement of this transition will help stabilize the Sudan and enable the Troika and other partners to work with the Sudanese government to deal with the economic challenges facing the country.
