Trump considers canceling trip to World Economic Forum due to shutdown

WASHINGTON, President Donald Trump said Thursday that he may not attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on January 22 if the partial government shutdown continues.

“I intended to go and speak in front of the international community in Davos. That’s still on, but if the shutdown continues – it’s a little while from now – but if the shutdown continues, I won’t go,” Trump told reporters before boarding Air Force One to visit the border.

He noted, “It’s been very successful when I went. We want a great story to tell. We have the best job numbers we’ve ever had in many years.”
