Trump, Netanyahu discuss threats, challenges facing Mideast

WASHINGTON, US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had discussed via phone threats and challenges facing the Mideast region, the White House announced Sunday.

The White House said in a statement that Saturday’s phone conversation also focused on the problems posed by the Iranian regime’s destabilizing activities.” Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in remarks in Tel Aviv Sunday following his talks with Netanyahu that their conversations “centered on Iran.” He stressed that “strong cooperation with close allies like you is critical to our efforts to counter Iran’s destabilizing and malign activity throughout the Middle East and indeed throughout the world.
