Trump “prepared” to declare nat’l emergency to build the US-Mexico wall

WASHINGTON, US President Donald Trump on Thursday said that he is “prepared” for a decision to declare a national emergency to build the US-Mexico wall.

Trump declared after he met with border patrol agents in the border town of McAllen, Texas that he hopes “the Democrats get together and work on a problem that’s compassion, it’s everything, it’s truly national security.” “To those who refuse to compromise in the name of border security, I would ask: Imagine if it was your child, your husband, or your wife whose life was so cruelly shattered and totally broken,” he said.

“To every member of Congress: Pass a bill that ends this crisis,” he maintained. As for constructing wall under national emergency, he asserted that he’s “prepared for anything.” “This is common sense. They need a barrier they need a wall.” Without it, he said, there would be “death.” “We can declare a national emergency. We shouldn’t have to because this is common sense.” Trump again said he would get Mexico to pay for the wall via the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) through “billions and billions of dollars.” As Trump pulled out of the station, there were scores of demonstrators, both pro and anti-wall.

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump called his third meeting with Republican and Democratic leaders on the partial government shutdown and border wall funding a “waste of time.” The US partial government shutdown is now in its 20th day.
