Trump says China wants to make a deal

WASHINGTON, US President Donald Trump affirmed Thursday that China wants to make a trade deal with the US, saying “I sort of think they have to make a deal.” In an interview with Fox News Radio, Trump said “China wants to make a deal.” “I think they want to make a deal, I sort of think they have to make a deal. We’ll see what happens,” he added.

He reiterated that “China has been ripping us off for billions and billions of dollars. I’m doing what had to be done.” “I was given a lot of bad hands and we’re going to win with every one of them,” he remarked.

He indicated that “there’s a talk scheduled for today at a different level,” adding “let’s see what the end product is; that’s what you have to judge it by.” Last week, Trump announced he was increasing tariffs on Chinese products from 25 to 30 percent, effective October 1st, reacting to China’s imposition of retaliatory tariffs on US imports worth about USD 75 billion in response to the recent US tariff hikes on Chinese goods, announced on August 1st.
