WASHNGTON, US President Donald Trump stressed Tuesday that “nobody has been tougher” on Russia than him and that getting along with Russia is “not a bad thing.” Trump told reporters during his meeting with the presidents of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania “ideally we want to be able to get along with Russia.
He added “probably nobody has been tougher to Russia than Donald Trump.
“We’ve been very tough on Russia, frankly. But I will say that if we got along with Russia, that would be a good thing, not a bad thing.
“It’s possible we won’t. We’re going to find out whether or not we do,” he reiterated.
Trump added that “if we could all get along, that would be great, and that includes China and that includes many other countries. But we’ll see what happens. Only time will tell.” During a joint press conference, Trump cited the expulsion of scores of Russian diplomats from the US and European countries, said that he could have “a very good relationship with President (Vladimir) Putin, it’s a real possibility that I could have a good relationship.
