WASHINGTON, US President Donald Trump reacted Friday to North Korea’s announcement that it will shut down its nuclear site and freeze its nuclear and ballistic missile tests.
This is is “a very good news,” Trump wrote in a tweet, affirming that “North Korea has agreed to suspend all Nuclear Tests and close up a major test site.” “This is very good news for North Korea and the World – big progress! Look forward to our Summit,” he added.
Earlier, North Korea announced that the suspension would take effect as of Saturday, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
The announcement follows a meeting between CIA chief and Secretary of State Nominee Mike Pompeo and North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un in North Korea last week.
It is seen as a goodwill gesture ahead of the summit meeting between Trump and North Korean leader, due in the coming weeks, to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
