Tunisia extends state of emergency for one month

TUNIS, Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi extended a nationwide state of emergency for one month ending January 5, 2019.

This measure comes after consultation with the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the House of People’s Representatives on issues related to national security, the Presidency of the Republic said in a statement Wednesday.

The state of emergency was first declared on November 24, 2015, after a terrorist bomb on a presidential guard bus and prolonged several times.
