Turkey says keen to strengthen ties with neighboring countries

Turkey’s new Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said on Tuesday that Ankara hopes to strengthen good relations with neighboring countries.

“We want to continue living in peace and harmony with our neighbors and to have friendly relations with them,” said the minister in a statement after being sworn in.

The minister pledged to continue assuring the safety of Turkey and unity of its territories and its independence through all national resources without harming the Turkish Sovereignty.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have announced yesterday the names of the 16 cabinet members, including Akar who was serving as chief of staff since 2015.
